After playing around with different stains and oil paints, I think it is starting to take on the antique look I have wanted. Click on thumbnail to enlarge.

After a winters work on his back, I finally got him upright to finish his robe.

After several tests made on scrape wood I got the bleach on the rope belt without bleeding over onto the robe. Click thumb nail to enlarge.

This part takes the longest. The painstaking job of cleanup. All the loose ends and smoothing blending all the areas together.

Removing the base to finish work on the base by removing three 1/2″ nuts. I am carving the base to look like shale rock. The marble name plate will be inserted a little later. Click on thumbnail to enlarge.

Now that the statue is on its back it will allow me at ease to clean up under arms and the entire statue. Also, to work on the face of St. Francis to show a little more hardship, and struggle of his life.
